The TokHaar-kal is the most powerful melee cape in terms of overall bonuses, awarded for defeating TzKal-Zuk in the Inferno. It surpasses its predecessor, the fire cape, boasting greater melee attack and strength bonuses, along with slightly higher defensive bonuses. In spite of this, it is still surpassed by the Ardougne cloaks 3 and 4 in stab attack and prayer bonuses, and by the mythical cape in crush attack.

An TokHaar-kal can be exchanged for a chance of obtaining the Jal-nib-rek pet by speaking to TzHaar-Ket-Keh. Like killing TzKal-Zuk, there is a 1/100 chance of obtaining the pet this way. If the player already has the pet, capes cannot be exchanged.

An TokHaar-kal can be combined with the max cape to change its appearance by turning it into the infernal max cape.

As of 1 May 2024, there are 86,971 current members that have obtained an TokHaar-kal.

If the player dies below level 20 Wilderness, it will remain in the player's inventory; however, the item will be unusable and must be repaired by using it on Perdu and paying him 225,000. If not protected when the player dies at level 20 Wilderness or higher, the cape is converted into coins. Alternatively, a Trouver parchment and a payment of 500,000 coins can be given to Perdu in order to lock it (after which it gains the (l) suffix); this allows the item to be kept in death, unbroken, even if the player dies at level 20 Wilderness or higher.
