The Dual macuahuitl's Bloodrager effect.

Blood moon armour is a melee armour set made of the Blood moon helm, Blood moon chestplate and Blood moon tassets. Every piece needs 75 Strength and 50 Defence. The full set gives +10 melee strength: the chestplate and tassets have the same strength bonus as Bandos armour (+4 and +2) and the helm adds another +4. It has far more magic defence than Bandos armour, but less melee and ranged defence.

The set belongs with the Dual macuahuitl, whose special attack only works while you wear all three pieces. The armour and the weapon are sold in the PK Point Shop for 17,500 PK points in total, and every piece is tradeable.

Set effect

The set has one effect: you need the full set (helm, chestplate and tassets) to use the Dual macuahuitl's special attack. Without it the special attack does not activate, and the game tells you that the weapon's magic will not work without the full Blood Moon set. The armour gives no extra accuracy or damage on its own.

Dual macuahuitl

  • Every attack hits twice at the same time, and each hit can deal up to half your max hit. If the first hit deals no damage, the second deals none either; if the first hit lands, the second one always hits.
  • Bloodrager: when the second hit deals damage, there is a 55% chance that your next attack comes one tick sooner, after 3 ticks instead of 4. This works with or without the armour.
  • Special attack (25% special attack energy, full set needed): both hits have a 25% higher max hit, Bloodrager always triggers, and you take damage equal to a quarter of your current Hitpoints (only when you have more than 4).

Combat stats

The full set gives -42 magic attack, -19 ranged attack, +110 stab, +161 slash, +163 crush, +79 magic and +154 ranged defence, and +10 melee strength. No piece has a melee attack or prayer bonus.

Compared with Bandos armour

Blood moon chestplate and tassets Bandos chestplate and tassets
Requirements 75 Strength, 50 Defence 65 Defence
Melee strength +6 +6
Stab / slash / crush defence +90 / +130 / +129 +169 / +156 / +171
Magic defence +72 -10

Both pairs have the same -36 magic attack and -17 ranged attack. The Blood moon pieces need only 50 Defence and block magic far better, while Bandos armour is stronger against melee and ranged attacks.
