The New crystal shield, often just called the crystal shield, is a shield that needs level 70 Defence. It is made for blocking ranged attacks: its +80 ranged defence is the highest of any shield in the ::bis interface, ahead of the Dragonfire shield (+72). It also gives +51 stab, +54 slash and +53 crush defence, but no magic defence, and it lowers your magic and ranged attack by 10 each. It costs only 1,000 PK points in the PK Point Shop, it can be traded, and three medium clue scroll steps ask you to wear one.

The shield is not part of Crystal armour and does not add to its set bonus. That bonus only boosts crystal bows, which are all two-handed, so the shield cannot be worn with them.

Clue scroll steps

Three medium clue scroll steps need a New crystal shield equipped while you have a PK skull:

• Salute at the Bandit Camp wearing an Armadyl helmet, Infinity boots and the shield.
• Kill Callisto wearing an Armadyl crossbow, an Archers ring (i) and the shield.
• Cook a tuna in the Resource Area wearing a Trident of the seas (full), a Berserker ring (i) and the shield.

How to get it

• PK Point Shop: 1,000 PK points.
• Clue scrolls: a possible reward from medium and elite clue scroll reward caskets.
• Achievements: the PvP achievements Kill 2,500 Players in PvP (one shield), Kill 35 Bounty Hunter Targets (2 noted) and Kill 800 Bounty Hunter Targets (3 noted).
• Boxes: the Vote Mystery Box (Voting) and the small (bronze) tier of the holiday event boxes.
• Trading post: it can be traded between players.
