The chugging barrel holds five different potions, up to 100 doses of each, and lets you drink one dose of all five in a single click. You fill it from your inventory or straight from your bank, and you can save four load-outs that refill the whole barrel in one click. Some potions last twice as long when you drink them from the barrel. It was added in the October 2026 update.

Getting a barrel
- The barrel comes from Skilling Crates as a Chugging barrel (disassembled). The disassembled barrel is tradeable, so you can also buy one from other players on the Trading post.
- Click Assemble on the disassembled barrel to turn it into a usable chugging barrel. The assembled barrel can't be traded.
- You can only own one assembled barrel (or broken barrel) at a time.
- Dismantle turns your barrel back into a tradeable disassembled barrel. Your stored potions and load-outs stay saved to your character, not to the item, so they are still there when you assemble a barrel again.
- You can't assemble or dismantle a barrel in a PvP zone or a minigame.

What it holds
- 5 slots, each holding one kind of potion.
- Up to 100 doses in each slot. Doses are added together no matter how many doses each bottle had, so a potion(3) and a potion(1) give you 4 doses in the barrel.
- Almost every potion fits, including combat potions, restores, brews, divine potions, overloads and Roat Pkz potions such as the Ancient brew and Menaphite remedy. Raid potions from Chambers of Xeric can't be stored. Noted potions have to be un-noted first.
Drinking
Click Drink to drink one dose from every slot that has a potion in it, in slot order from the first slot to the fifth.
- A barrel drink counts as one drink, so you can drink five potions in the time it normally takes to drink one. Like a normal potion, it stops you eating normal food for 3 ticks.
- After a barrel drink you have to wait 6 seconds (10 game ticks) before you can drink from the barrel again. You can still drink normal potions in the meantime.
- Each potion follows its normal rules. A slot is skipped if you can't drink that potion right now, for example a Surge potion above level 10 Wilderness or an overload with too few Hitpoints, and the other slots are still drunk.
- Self-damage from potions such as Zamorak brews and divine potions happens one slot at a time, in slot order.
- You can drink from the barrel in the Wilderness and other PvP zones. A Saradomin brew in the barrel can only be drunk where you're allowed to spawn items; elsewhere it stays in the barrel and the other slots are drunk as normal.
Double duration
These potions last twice as long when you drink them from the barrel:
| Potion | From a bottle | From the barrel |
|---|---|---|
| Overload | 5 minutes | 10 minutes |
| Goading potion | 6 minutes | 12 minutes |
| Prayer regeneration potion | 8 minutes | 16 minutes |
Other potions work exactly as they do from a bottle.
Filling the barrel
From your inventory
- Use a potion on the barrel to pour all of that bottle's doses into it.
- Click Open on the barrel to open its window. It shows the five barrel slots and your inventory. Click a potion in your inventory to store it, either by bottle (1, 5, all or a number you choose) or by dose. Click a barrel slot to take doses back out as bottles: one full bottle, one dose, everything or a number you choose. Taken-out doses come back as full bottles plus one part-used bottle, as far as your inventory has space.
- Drag the barrel slots to change their order, which is also the order you drink them in.
You can't put potions in or take them out of the barrel while you are in a PvP zone, such as the Wilderness. Fill it up before you go.
From your bank: load-outs
Open your bank and choose Configure on the barrel in your inventory. This opens the barrel's bank panel next to your bank.
- Load-outs: save up to 4 load-outs. Each load-out has 5 slots: click a slot to pick a potion from a searchable list of potions, and optionally set a dose limit from 1 to 99 (0 means a full 100 doses).
- Load a load-out to refill the barrel to match it in one click. Missing doses are taken from your bank and inventory, and any potion or extra doses the load-out doesn't need go back to your bank. If you don't have enough of a potion, the barrel is filled with what you have and you get a message telling you how many doses are missing.
- Free spawnable potions: wherever you're allowed to spawn items, potions that can be spawned are filled for free. Potions you can't spawn are always taken from your bank.
- There are also buttons to empty the whole barrel into your bank, and to top up every potion in the barrel to 100 doses while adding the other potions you are carrying to any free slots.
- While the panel is open, withdrawing a potion from your bank pours it into the barrel instead of your inventory.
Death and repair
- The barrel is always kept when you die, but on a dangerous death it breaks into a Chugging barrel (broken). Your stored potions and load-outs are kept.
- Click Repair on the broken barrel to fix it for 1,000 PK points, taken from your quest tab, inventory or bank.
- You can't drink from, fill or dismantle a broken barrel until it is repaired.
