Darts

Darts are small throwing weapons for Ranged. You wield a stack of them in your weapon slot and throw one with every attack. They are very fast: one dart every 3 game ticks (1.8 seconds), or every 2 ticks on the Rapid attack style. Darts have an attack range of 3 (5 on Longrange). Their only bonus is Ranged strength, and dragon darts have the most, +35. Darts are also the ammunition of the Toxic blowpipe. Every dart on this page can be traded.

Comparison

Dart level Ranged strength Fletching level Get it from Value (each)
Bronze dart – +1 10 Spawn, Fletching Free
Iron dart – +2 22 Spawn, Fletching Free
Steel dart 5 +3 37 Spawn, Fletching Free
Black dart 10 +6 – Spawn Free
Mithril dart 20 +9 52 Spawn, Fletching Free
Adamant dart 30 +17 67 Spawn, Fletching Free
Rune dart 40 +26 81 Ranged Accessories (free), spawn, Fletching Free
Amethyst dart 50 +28 90 Ranged Accessories (free), spawn, Fletching Free
Dragon dart 60 +35 – PK Point Shop and Ranged Accessories (1 PKP), Zulrah, Scorpia, The Mimic 1 PKP

PKP = PK points. Spawn means you can spawn the dart outside PvP areas, for example with ::item (see Commands). Darts have no attack or defence bonuses, only the Ranged strength above. Players can compare them with other weapons in the ::bis interface.

Poisoned darts

Every dart except the dragon dart also comes in three poisoned versions, (p), (p+) and (p++), for example Rune dart(p++). A poisoned dart has exactly the same bonuses and requirements as the normal one. Poisoned darts are not sold in any shop, but they can be spawned like the normal darts.

Version First poison hit Total poison damage
(p) 2 12
(p+) 3 24
(p++) 4 40
  • Every poisoned dart you throw that deals damage has a 20% chance to poison the target.
  • The poison hits about every 20 seconds (34 game ticks) and gets 1 weaker after every 4 hits, until it runs out. The totals above are for one full poison.
  • A target that is already poisoned only takes a new poison if it is stronger. Poison cannot affect a venomed target, a monster that is immune to poison, or a player who has antipoison protection or wears a charged serpentine, magma or tanzanite helm.

Toxic blowpipe

The Toxic blowpipe (and its cosmetic Blazing blowpipe version) fires darts instead of throwing them. Use darts on the blowpipe to load it; it holds one kind of dart at a time. Any dart on this page can be loaded, poisoned versions included. The blowpipe adds the loaded dart's Ranged strength to its own +20, so dragon darts give it +55 in total. Instead of the dart's poison, the blowpipe can venom its target: every hit that deals damage has a 1 in 6 chance.

Throwing darts

  • Each throw uses up one dart. Half of the darts you throw land under your target, where you can pick them up again.
  • With an Ava's accumulator, an Ava's assembler, a Masori assembler, a Ranging cape or a max cape worn, 7 out of 10 throws keep the dart, and every dart that is not kept lands under the target.
  • At Zulrah, the Kraken, the Great Olm and Verzik Vitur in the Theatre of Blood, darts never land on the floor, so every dart that is not kept is lost.

How to get them

Shops and spawning

  • Ranged Accessories (::shops): rune and amethyst darts for free, dragon darts for 1 PK point each.
  • PK Point Shop (::shops): dragon darts for 1 PK point each.
  • Every dart except the dragon dart, poisoned versions included, can be spawned outside PvP areas.

Fletching

Use feathers on dart tips to make up to 10 darts at a time, one feather and one tip per dart, at the Fletching levels in the table above. Bronze to rune dart tips are smithed from bars, 10 tips per bar (see Smithing training). Amethyst dart tips are cut from amethyst with a chisel at level 89 Fletching, 8 tips per amethyst; amethyst costs 1,500 skilling points in the Mining and Crafting shops. Feathers are free in the Fletching shop. See Fletching training for the experience.

Dragon dart drops

Monster Quantity Rate
Zulrah 100–300 1/12
Scorpia 50–100 ~1/11
The Mimic 500–1,500 ~1/17

Rates marked ~ are common drops: the monster gives one of its common drops whenever no rarer drop is rolled.
