Skilling pets are pets you can get while training a non-combat skill. Every skilling action has a small chance of giving the pet for that skill. The February 2026 update added many new forms (rock golems, beavers, phoenixes, squirrels, raccoons and herons), the Toy cat for Crafting, Quetzin for Fletching and a pet for every type of impling. The Skill Guide (click a skill in your skills tab) has a Pets page that shows every pet for that skill.
How skilling pets work
- Each successful action, such as a log cut, a fish caught or a lap finished, has a small chance of giving the skill's pet. Faster methods give more actions per hour but each action is less likely to give the pet, so all methods of a skill work out roughly the same per hour.
- Your chance is better while skilling in the Wilderness or in the Royal and Divine skilling dungeons.
- Once you have 200 million experience in a skill, that skill's pet becomes much more likely.
- An active Pet Collector Scroll also improves the chance a little.
- When you get a pet, it starts following you if nothing else is. Otherwise it goes into your inventory, or your bank if your inventory is full. Everyone online sees a message and the pet is added to your Collection log.
- Many skilling pets have several forms. Right-click your pet and choose Metamorphosis to switch it to its next form. Some forms can only be reached this way.
- Lost or emptied a pet? You can buy it back; see Reclaiming pets.
