The profit shown is the average Pk Point value of one raid for a player without a donator rank who raids alone in Normal mode, deals all the damage and does not die, which gives about 33,000 raid points. It is worked out from the raid's reward tables with today's prices. It is an average: every such raid gives two rewards from the common table, and about 1 raid in 9 also gives a unique. In a team, your reward depends on your own points (see Rewards).

The Chambers of Xeric raid on Roat Pkz is the fight against the Great Olm and its two claws. When the Olm dies, every player in the raid gets their own reward based on the raid points they earned, so you can raid alone or with your clan. Dying inside the raid does not cost you any items.

How the raid works

  • Raid points. You get 7.5 points for every point of damage you deal to the Olm's claws and head. Your own points and the party's total are shown on screen during the raid.
  • One style per part. The left claw only takes melee damage, the right claw only magic damage and the head only ranged damage.
  • Phases. The Olm has 3 phases, plus one more for every 8 players in the raid. In each phase you kill both claws, and then the Olm moves to the other side of the chamber and comes back at full health. In the final phase you kill both claws and then the head. Until both claws are dead in the final phase, hits on the head heal it.
  • Final phase. Once one claw is dead, kill the other one within about 15 seconds, or the dead claw comes back with full health. Damage on a claw that came back gives no points.
  • Hitpoints. In Normal mode the head has 800 Hitpoints and each claw 600. In Challenge mode the head has 1,600 and each claw 1,200. Every extra player in the raid gives the Olm 50% more Hitpoints and 20% higher other stats.
  • Example. Alone in Normal mode you deal 3 × 1,200 damage to the claws and 800 to the head, which is 4,400 damage or 33,000 points.
  • Dying costs you 40% of your current points, but you keep all your items.

Getting there

  • Type ::cox (also ::raids, ::raid, ::olm or ::chambers) or pick Chambers of Xeric in the Teleport interface.
  • Click the Chambers of Xeric entrance. You must be in a clan chat. If your clan has no raid open yet, a member ranked Recruit or higher can open one in Normal or Challenge mode. Up to 50 players can join one raid.
  • You cannot enter with PvP items, such as the Ancient Warriors' equipment, in your inventory or equipment.
  • When everyone is in, the party leader goes through the passage to start the raid. Nobody can join after it has begun.
  • Before the Olm's chamber, a storage unit gives free raid potions: Overload (+), Xeric's aid (+), Revitalisation (+) and Prayer enhance (+). Raid potions are removed when you leave the raid.
  • Cross the mystical barrier to fight the Olm. Once you are inside, the only way back out is to forfeit the raid.

Rewards

Your reward depends on your own raid points when the Olm dies:

  • 500 points or less: a cabbage.
  • 501 to 3,000 points: 1–500 Pk Points.
  • More than 3,000 points: one reward from the common table, and a second one with a 1% chance for every 300 points (30,000 points or more always gives two). You also get a chance at the unique table of about 1% for every full 3,000 points. A donator rank raises this to 1.1% (Donator) up to 1.6% (Divine Donator) per 3,000 points (see Donator ranks), Challenge mode adds 0.1%, and a My Chamber scroll adds 0.15% (see Scrolls).

For example, 33,000 points alone in Normal mode give about an 11% chance at a unique. Two players who each deal half the damage in Normal mode earn about 24,750 points each, which is about an 8% chance each. When the raid ends, the party is told who got a unique.

Common table

Each common reward is one of these, with an amount from 1 up to the number shown:

Item Amount Chance per common reward Price
Pk Points 1–5,000 5/10 1 each
Runite bar (noted) 1–62 1/10 510 each
Magic logs (noted) 1–100 1/10 500 each
Divine super combat potion(4) (noted) 1–500 1/10 10 each
Stamina potion(4) (noted) 1–1,000 1/10 5 each
Anglerfish (noted) 1–10,000 1/10 2 each

Strategy

See the Great Olm article for all of its attacks.

  • Protection prayers reduce the Olm's normal magic and ranged attacks by 70%.
  • Spheres. Pray Protect from Melee against a red sphere, Protect from Missiles against a green one and Protect from Magic against a purple one. Without the right prayer the sphere takes half of your current Hitpoints; with it, you lose half of your Prayer points instead.
  • Lightning that hits you deals 5–25 damage, switches off your protection prayers and stuns you for a moment, so you cannot move or turn the prayers back on until it wears off.
  • Fire walls can be put out with a water spell (see Recommended gear).
  • Do not die. Every death costs 40% of your points, and with them part of your chance at a unique.
  • Challenge mode has twice the Hitpoints, so a raid takes longer, but you earn about twice the points and get the extra 0.1% per 3,000 points and the Metamorphic dust roll.

Risks

  • No item risk. You keep all your items when you die in the raid. Dying only costs points.
  • No way back. If you leave or forfeit, you cannot rejoin that raid, and a player who stays logged out for more than about a minute during the raid is removed from it.
  • Time. A raid takes much longer than a single boss kill, so compare the profit per raid with how long your raids take.
