Battle mage
Battle mages are aggressive mages in the Mage Arena, in the Wilderness between levels 51 and 54. There are three kinds, one for each god: Zamorak, Saradomin and Guthix. Type ::battlemage to get there.
Every battle mage you kill gives you 1 Mage Arena point, which you spend at the Mage Arena shop. Their drops include Elidinis' ward, the Magic fang, the Occult necklace, Staff of the dead, Mage's book, Master wand and the Infinity robes (see Drops).
The three battle mages
| Battle mage | Spell | Number | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zamorak battle mage | 3 | ||
| Saradomin battle mage | 3 | ||
| Guthix battle mage | 3 | ||
All three have the same stats, the same attack and the same drop table. Only the look of their spell is different.
Slayer
Battle mages can only become a Slayer task through a Choose Wisely scroll (45–100 kills); Krystilia never assigns them at random. All three kinds count. Each kill on task gives 500 Slayer experience before the Slayer XP boosts. The task teleport takes you to the battle mages in level 52 Wilderness.
Getting there
- Type ::battlemage (also ::battlemages, ::battle-mage or ::battle-mages), or open the Teleport interface and choose Monsters → Battle Mages. The teleport is free and takes you straight into the Mage Arena, at level 52 Wilderness.
- As with every Wilderness teleport, the game asks you to confirm first, unless you have turned off Teleport Warnings in the quest tab.
- The Mage Arena shop is in the Mage Bank. Type ::mb and trade Kolodion.

There are nine battle mages, three of each kind, inside the Mage Arena. The arena is single-way combat.
Fight overview
- Inside the Mage Arena you can only use Magic, both against the battle mages and against other players.
- Battle mages are aggressive and attack you on sight. They cast from up to 10 tiles away, once every 4 ticks (2.4 seconds), and can hit up to 30.
- Protect from Magic blocks their spells completely.
- They have 100 Hitpoints, 150 Defence and 150 Magic, and no attack or defence bonuses.
- They respawn 60 ticks (36 seconds) after they die.
- You can't fight them with Risk defence on. When you attack one, the game offers to turn your risk defence off for now.
- The Mage Arena is in the Wilderness, so other players can attack you there (with Magic only). Only bring what you are willing to lose (see Items Kept on Death).
Mage Arena points
- You get 1 Mage Arena point for every battle mage you kill. The game then tells you your total points and your kill count for that kind of battle mage.
- If several players damage the same battle mage, the point and the drop go to the player who dealt the most damage.
- Spend your points at the Mage Arena shop, run by Kolodion in the Mage Bank (::mb). It sells the empty tomes of fire, water and earth and their pages, the Enchanted symbol, the robes of darkness and the light and dark infinity robes.
Kill count and other rewards
- Each kind of battle mage has its own kill count. Type ::npckills to see all your kill counts.
- The three share the Battle Mages page in the Collection log. Completing it rewards a
Monster Crate, an Elidinis' ward, a Magic fang, an Occult necklace and a Staff of the dead. - Battle mage kills count towards the Battle Mage Kills achievements, from 10 up to 25,000 kills. They reward PK points and items such as the Magic fang, Staff of the dead, Occult necklace and Infinity pieces.
- Daily tasks can ask you to kill 25, 50 or 100 battle mages.
Setups
These setups come from what players wear when they kill the Battle mages. Each tab shows the gear most players use at that price, what it costs, and how long a solo kill usually takes with it. Prices are in PK points (PKP) at today's in-game prices, and spawnable items are free to spawn. Most players use magic.

Drops
All three battle mages use the same drop table:
- The items under Uniques are rolled one at a time, from the rarest down, and the first one you hit is your drop. Most kills give only ashes.
- Ashes are always dropped.
- Clue scrolls are rolled separately, and you can't get a clue scroll of a tier you already have.
The donator columns show each rate with that donator rank's drop rate boost. Elidinis' ward, the Magic fang, the Occult necklace, the Staff of the dead and the Mage's book are announced to the whole server when they drop.
