Typeregion

The Wilderness (also called the Wildy or the Wild) is the large, dangerous area north of Edgeville and the main place for PvP on Roat Pkz. Everywhere in it except the Ferox Enclave, other players can attack you if your combat levels are close enough, and you lose your items when you die. The further north you go, the higher the Wilderness level: more players can attack you and fewer teleports work.

In return, the Wilderness has the Wilderness bosses, the Revenant Caves, the daily Wilderness events, double experience in many skills and the best skilling resources, and Bounty Hunter gives you a target to hunt while you are in it.

Wilderness levels

Your Wilderness level is shown on your screen while you are in the Wilderness. It is level 1 just north of the ditch at Edgeville and goes up by one every 8 squares to the north, up to level 56 on the northern coast.

  • The caves under the Wilderness have the level of the ground above them; the Revenant Caves, for example, go from level 17 to 42. A few boss lairs have a fixed level instead: Hunter's End and the Skeletal Tomb are level 21, Web Chasm is level 29, Vet'ion's Rest and Silk Chasm are level 35 and Callisto's Den is level 40.
  • The Donator Dungeon of the Donator Zone (levels 31–50) and the Divine Slayer Cave (levels 25–40) count as Wilderness too.

Combat levels

You can attack another player if the difference between your combat levels is no more than the Wilderness level that both of you are standing in. At level 10 Wilderness, for example, a level 116 player can fight players from level 106 to 126, as long as they are at level 10 or deeper too. If the difference is too big, the game says Your combat level difference is too great to attack that player here. Your Bounty Hunter target can be attacked whatever the Wilderness level.

What changes as you go deeper

Level Teleports (without a teleblock) Other changes
1–10 All teleports work. While another player is attacking you, only a universal teleport, a royal seed pod with charges, the levers and the obelisks work. Players on your PvP blacklist can't fight you while either of you is at level 5 or lower.
11–20 All teleports work. Above level 10: Ancient Warriors' armour takes the bonuses of other items, Morrigan's javelins and Morrigan's throwing axes can't be used on players, and surge potions can't be drunk. From level 10 the special attack of the Dark bow (bh) can't be used.
21–30 Only a few item teleports work: the amulet of glory, the royal seed pod and the max cape. Levers and obelisks still work. From level 30: magic logs can be fletched, and kills count as Deep Wild Kills on the Hiscores.
31+ Only the levers and the obelisks work. Above level 30: dark crabs and anglerfish can be caught.

A teleblock stops every teleport, the levers and the obelisks too. See Teleporting out.

PvP in the Wilderness

  • Skulls: attacking a player first gives you a skull for 20 minutes. When you die you keep your 3 most valuable items, or none while you are skulled, and one more with Protect Item. Some items follow their own rules; see Items Kept on Death.
  • Single-way and multi-combat: most of the west of the Wilderness is single-way combat, and most of the east is multi-combat. In single-way combat, a player's hit keeps you in combat for 10 ticks (6 seconds), and until it runs out nobody else can attack you.
  • The kill: the player who dealt you the most damage gets the kill, your lost items, PK points and sometimes a crate or a clue scroll. See PvP for the rewards and loot keys.
  • Skulled drop bonus: while you are skulled, your drop rates are 20% better against revenants in the Revenant Caves and against the Wilderness bosses in the Wilderness (see Skulling).
  • Risk defence lets you avoid fights with players who risk much less than you. It does not apply in multi-combat areas.
  • Mage Arena: if you or the player you attack is in the Mage Arena, only Magic attacks can be used.
  • Spawning: you can't spawn items in the Wilderness, so bring everything you need.
  • Run energy only drains in the Wilderness and a few other PvP areas. It comes back while you stand still, faster with a higher Agility level and the full Graceful outfit. Stamina potions and a max cape make it drain more slowly.
  • The Looting bag can only be filled in the Wilderness and the other PvP areas where you lose items.

Dying in the Wilderness

  • You respawn at home in Edgeville. If you die in the low Wilderness just north of Edgeville or Varrock, you respawn just south of the Wilderness ditch there instead, and if you die near the Ferox Enclave (levels 9–19), you respawn inside it.
  • If you die in the Donator Dungeon, you respawn outside its entrance in the Donator Zone.
  • Dying removes your skull and any teleblock on you.

Getting there

  • Walking: cross the Wilderness ditch north of Edgeville.
  • Teleports: the teleport interface and the commands below. Teleports into the Wilderness ask you to confirm first, unless you turn off Teleport Warnings in the quest tab.
  • Items: the Max cape has teleports to the Resource Area and the Revenant Caves, the burning amulet (sold in the Pk point shop) to the Chaos Temple (level 15), the Bandit Camp (level 17) and the Lava Maze (level 41), and the ring of dueling to the Ferox Enclave.
  • Spells: four Ancient Magicks teleports lead into the Wilderness.

The Mage Bank (::mb) Level 55, next to the Mage Arena (single-way). The lever there takes you back.
In the dungeon below the Lava Maze, level 42 The lair of the King Black Dragon. The lever in the lair takes you back.

Levers work at any Wilderness level, but not while you are teleblocked.

Obelisks

Six obelisks stand in the Wilderness, at levels 13, 19 and 50 (multi-combat) and 27, 35 and 44 (single-way). Activate one and, a few seconds later, everyone standing in the middle of it is teleported to one of the other five obelisks at random. Players in the top 20% of Elo, players wearing a max cape and clans with the Director perk can right-click an obelisk to choose where it goes. Obelisks work at any Wilderness level, but not while you are teleblocked.

Teleporting out

Wilderness level Teleports that work without a teleblock
1–10 All of them. While another player is attacking you, only a universal teleport, a royal seed pod with charges, the levers and the obelisks.
11–20 All of them.
21–30 Only the amulet of glory, the royal seed pod and the max cape teleports, the levers and the obelisks.
31 and deeper Only the levers and the obelisks.
  • Deeper than level 20 you get You can't teleport above level 20 in the wilderness., and deeper than level 30 the item teleports stop too.
  • A teleblock stops every one of these. The only ways out are walking, winning the fight or waiting for it to run out.
  • You can't teleport for 8 ticks (4.8 seconds) after you use a special attack on a player, or 30 ticks (18 seconds) near a running Bloodlust event.

Ferox Enclave

The Ferox Enclave (::ferox, or a ring of dueling) is a walled safe zone in the low Wilderness, west of the Chaos Temple. Nobody can fight inside it. It has:

  • a bank;
  • the Pool of Refreshment, which fully restores your Hitpoints, Prayer and run energy and cures poison and venom;
  • an altar where you can recharge your Prayer;
  • the Emblem Trader, for Bounty Hunter emblems and skulls;
  • Skully, who runs the loot keys;
  • Ferox, who sells the Bounty Hunter hats (Trade).

Right outside its walls players can't fight each other (You cannot fight another player whilst next to the Enclave, please move further out.), and the Wilderness level shows as "--". A teleblocked player is the exception: they can be attacked there and can fight back, but they can't enter the Enclave until the teleblock ends. If you die near the Enclave, you respawn inside it.

Mage Bank and Mage Arena

The Mage Bank (::mb) is a safe area below the Mage Arena with a bank, a loot chest for loot keys, Kolodion, a Teleport Wizard and the PK point shop. Its lever takes you up to level 55, next to the Mage Arena, where Battle mages fight and only Magic attacks can be used. See Imbued god capes for the Mage Arena II reward and the Mage Arena shop.

Timed bosses

These bosses spawn at one of several spots in the Wilderness, and any number of players can fight them at once. See each boss's page for its rewards.

Many of these monsters, and others, also live in the Revenant Caves and the Wilderness Slayer Cave. For Slayer tasks in the Wilderness, see Slayer.

Revenant Caves

The Revenant Caves run under the Wilderness from level 17 to level 42 and are full of revenants, green dragons, black demons and other monsters.

  • Entrances: the southern entrance at level 17 (::revs) and the northern one at level 40, north of the chinchompa hills (also a Max cape teleport). You need a combat level of 88 to go in, and you can't enter while you are teleblocked.
  • Combat: the caves are multi-combat, except the area just inside the level 17 entrance and the area around the level 40 entrance, which are single-way.
  • Revenants: while you are skulled, revenants in the caves have 20% better drop rates. A charged Bracelet of ethereum blocks their damage, and the Revenant ether they drop powers the Wilderness weapons such as Craw's bow, Viggora's chainmace and Thammaron's sceptre.
  • Emblem Trader: an Emblem Trader wanders the caves and buys ancient artifacts for PK points.
  • Player kills in the caves count for the Rev Cave Kills ranking on the Hiscores.

Skilling in the Wilderness

You need a combat level of at least 100 to train skills in the Wilderness, and you can't skill while your risk defence is on.

  • Mining, Woodcutting, Fishing, Cooking, Firemaking, Smithing and Thieving give double experience anywhere in the Wilderness. Crafting, Fletching and Herblore give double experience in the Resource Area.
  • Crops grow twice as fast in the Wilderness, and herbs you pick there come out noted.
  • Hunter and Agility have no Wilderness bonus.

The best resources can only be used in the Wilderness, the Donator Dungeon or the Royal and Divine skilling dungeons:

Skill Only in the Wilderness (and the donator skilling areas)
Runecraft Runecraft Wrath runes, at the Wrath altar at level 9
Agility Agility The Wilderness Agility Course (Agility 52, levels 52–56)
Mining Mining Runite ore
Smithing Smithing Smelting and smithing runite bars
Woodcutting Woodcutting Magic trees
Firemaking Firemaking Burning magic and redwood logs
Fishing Fishing Anglerfish and dark crabs (deeper than level 30), and halibut and marlin (the Ice Plateau, levels 54–56)
Cooking Cooking Anglerfish and dark crabs, in the Resource Area or at Easts (level 36)
Thieving Thieving The level 85 and 95 stalls
Crafting Crafting Cutting zenyte, in the Resource Area
Fletching Fletching Magic and redwood logs and magic bows, from level 30
Herblore Herblore Extended super antifire, menaphite remedy and forgotten brew
Farming Farming Torstol, magic trees and dragonfruit trees
Hunter Hunter Black salamanders (levels 19–20), black chinchompas (::chins, levels 31–35), and dragon and lucky implings

The Resource Area (levels 51–54, single-way) has many of these resources in one walled area that costs 500 PK points to enter, and Larran's keys from Wilderness Slayer tasks open Larran's chests at levels 18 and 55. See Skill training guides for each skill.

Wilderness events

Several events take place in the Wilderness every day. Type ::events to see today's times and ::locs to see where they are.

See Events and Minigames for the details.

PKing spots

  • Edgeville (levels 1–7): single-way and right next to home, so many one-on-one fights and Bounty Hunter kills happen here. Walk north from ::home or use ::hills (level 4). Staff sometimes put a Boss Bounty on player kills here.
  • Varrock (levels 1–8): the multi-combat low Wilderness north of Varrock (::varrock).
  • Up to level 30: many players PvM and skill around ::wests, ::revs, ::graves, ::easts, ::gorillas, ::cemetery and the single-way boss lairs, and PKers come to hunt them with Teleblock and freezes. Without a teleblock, players there can still teleport out (see Teleporting out).
  • Chins (level 34) and the Forgotten Cemetery (level 27): popular single-way fighting spots. Kills on the chinchompa hills count for the Chin Hill Kills ranking on the Hiscores, and the northern entrance of the Revenant Caves is just north of them.
  • Deep Wilderness (deeper than level 30): only the levers and the obelisks get you out, and the multi-combat east (the Demonic Ruins, the level 50 obelisk, Callisto's Den, Lava Dragon Isle) is where clans fight. Kills at level 30 or deeper count for the Deep Wild Kills ranking.

The Wilderness Hotspot moves between several of these areas every 30 minutes and doubles the PK points for kills there.
